T-Display S3 Long

I had a lot of hope for this product. It was the reason I made the order to Lilygo. I've been playing with TTGOs and TFT_eSPI library for a long time and to finally have a big display opened a lot of possibilities.

Biggest problem is the lack of documentation and support. Even uploading the provided code is tricky because you have to install the exact, specific version of each library in order to just get something to show up on the screen. This code is bulky, not optimised and hard to follow. Modifying this code to suit your needs is tricky and frustrating. Starting a project from scratch is even trickier. And using the touch is damn near impossible.
Examples on the internet are also minimal.

My biggest pain is that it's not supported by TFT_eSPI library, as other Lilygo products are. The functionality and ease of use of this library would make this product incredible. I think your company would benefit a lot if you would make some efforts to contact the creator of TFT_eSPI and motivate him to include also this display.

Uploading on this display can also be a pain. It's easy for the display to get into an uploadable state. Especially when you're making mistakes on the bulky code that the display comes with and the microcontroller enters a crashing loop. I ordered 3 and one of them is impossible to upload to. Holding boot, restarting, nothing.
For now i've abandoned this display in the hopes that one day it will be easier to work with.
I would return them if it wasn't such a pain to do so.

I got a T-DIsplay S3 Long to try out. If found it difficult to use. There is a reset button on the bottom that sticks out. If you sit the unit on that bottom edge, the reset button gets pressed because it sticks out. Yes, I could turn it over but the location of my power dictates having it the other way. You would call that upside down. I call it necessary. There is a placard plastered to the back of the unit making the battery connector essentially useless. There are closely spaced pins that don't match the standard. I have found adapters cables to mate with this that I must now order. Not terribly happy with it. I got it because of the flip clock factory app but found out that it cheats. When going from 59 seconds or minutes to 00, it first goes to 9, then flops to 0. Someone was too lazy to make a 5 to 0 flip card. Sad... I will get back to playing with it soon. Not sure what I will do with it but something will come up.

Excellent board with some documentation issues. Seems to be a bit of confusion about this board and a version with a built-in SD card slot (which is included in the online documentation's schematic)
Great display with good viewing angles

The device itself is great. It looks great, feels well built, and overall seems like a good design. But the provided software no longer works. Someone on GitHub had managed to rework the code in order to get it to load some basic demos, but I haven't gotten much further than that.

I’ve been writing custom firmware for these and turning them into ntp clocks, serial consoles, and more. Highly recommend! Make sure you understand you need to customize the code yourself to have it do helpful things.
