There is not currently Meshtastic support for this device.
I didn't read the description before buying this and assumed it would be a beautiful Meshtastic all in one device but it is a development board. Maybe one day a developer will release a working Meshtastic firmware to install. I can only give 3 stars because I can't use the product as it is.
but i don't know how to connect with i2c mux .
theres no response from any i2c mux ...
it would be nice to have an example which connects to LoraWAN/TTN/Helium
Hi, thanks for the feedback, you can check this link for reference: https://github.com/Xinyuan-LilyGO/LilyGo-LoRa-Series/tree/master/examples/LoRaWAN
I purchased a pair of these to run MeshCore on, after seeing the review online. However the device I bought had different hardware, but finally firmware is available.
It is very nice to use, and probably the only stand alone device I would give to someone who wasn't an enthusiast, but wanted to use it for a purpose.
The wireless magnetic charging works fine (also the makes a good fridge magnet). The screen has a backlight, (Note - there is no sound). Looks good.
The only downsides are:
1. The reset button is too easy to press (please Lilygo, make them only reset after holding for 5 seconds.)
2. GPS is much slower than The T-Deck pro
3. The power (like all the other stand alone devices) is much lower than the permitted maximum,
4. The touch screen is not particularly sensitive and could do with haptic feedback to make typing easier. (And the same device could provide message alerts)
In practice the only real showstopper is the low power. (standard when the device was released, of course.)
It is probably more than 6 dB lower ERP than the EU limit (and 9 dB for the US one), which makes a big difference in any marginal locations.
I have found it compares very badly in my location to a newer 27 dBm companion device with a half wave dipole, and I can't recommend ANY low power device without an external antenna socket to anyone not planning to only use it in an area of known good coverage. (If your area achieves coverage with lots of 22 dBm repeaters it will be fine, but if it has less 27 dBm repeaters to achieve it, you will find many locations where you can hear activity but not join in)
Hopefully all these will be fixed in an updated version, (but Liltgo, please don't make it incompatible again) these changes would get the missing star.
