Hardware is different and incompatible with previous version.

The version with GPS is different and incompatible with available firmware (launcher / meshcore - as of May 25), meaning mine have remained in their boxes.

I suggest any potential purchasers ensure this issue is resolved before purchase.

The device looks like it will be very nice after this is resolved.

Cool product, excellent customer support

A few days after receiving the device it’s screen developed permanent lines along the y axis in the middle of the screen. I tried reaching out to customer support to ask about this and see if it could be fixed or if I could either exchange or return the product but didn’t get a reply back as it turns out my message went into the spam folder.

After posting my initial review customer support reached out and has been very helpful and have offered to send a new screen or a replacement device! I really like the device and plan on turning mine into an E-Book reader. I’ve been having some trouble figuring out how to get text that is oriented along the shorter side of the screen and would like it if we had an example showing how to do it, but the one that are already included are very helpful. The phone like form factor really works well and I would love to see a headphone jack added so that it can be used as an MP3 player. Overall it’s an excellent product and I’m excited to see what’s coming in the future!

great for a Lora remote

I am making some Lora remotes with this unit, adding just 5 push buttons and a battery.
The epaper is used verically providing labels for the buttons, and displaying feedback. The buttons exit low power mode and send Lora, then wait for an answer. The github repository provides working examples w/ PlatformIO, for Lora, display, low power. Just an initial problem as I was flashing, but the default firmware was still there. Solved connecting the device w/ boot button pressed, this way windows 10 recognises the correct COM port, if ok you shoud find "USB/Jtag serial debug unit" under Universal Serial Bus devices in Device Manager.
Lowered epaper refresh timings in GxEPD library.
Now I need to design and print a 3D case!

Amazing form factor with minor problems

This is the device I have been waiting for, it has almost everything you need.

It's a bummer that a week after its release it turns out that development has been discontinued and a new version is coming out that solves some of the problems.

Problems:
- Requires Qi2 chargers, older including MagSafe are not starting charge
- Screen develops few death lines after 2-3 weeks of refreshes

Overall, I recommend waiting for the second version.

Regarding the version update, it is actually just a different way to drive the ink screen, and an optional GPS function is added, and other functions remain unchanged.
